What is NIHBA?
Northern Illinois Home Builders Association (NIHBA) was founded in 1954 to
promote home ownership and the interests of the home building industry.
Incorporated in 1956, it is an affiliated chapter of the National
Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and the Home Builders Association of
Illinois (HBAI). NIHBA attracts members from all walks of the home building
industry. Among the 400 plus members are not only home builders, but also
real estate attorneys, electricians, mortgage lenders, plumbers,
accountants, land developers and more. Any company that provides a product
or service to home builders or home buyers in Will, DuPage, Kane and Kendall
counties is eligible for membership. |

The Association's primary goals within its
service area are to promote home ownership and legislation that fosters
affordable housing for all, protect the professional interests of those
engaged in home building and promote and protect the private property rights
of home buyers and owners. The following programs and services of NIHBA are
designed to accomplish these goals while benefiting both our members and the
home buying public:
-
Cavalcade of Homes
- Since 1959, NIHBA has presented a show of homes built by custom builders
representing state-of-the-art construction, interior design and
landscaping.
- Arbitration - NIHBA
offers an arbitration program to resolve disputes between builders and
home buyers arising from the construction of a new home.
- Governmental Affairs Program
- NIHBA staff regularly monitor local governments within our service area.
- NIHB Realty - In
1995 NIHBA opened its own real estate office - Northern Illinois Home
Builders' Realty. NIHB Realty lists the newly constructed homes of its
builder members.
