Did you know….
We are producing 70% more waste than we did in 1960.

Office paper use has increased 50% since 1988.

Forty-five percent of our energy comes from oil. Some predict we may run out in about 37 years.

Cavalcade Green Tips

Check out your cleaning products. Many of them are bad for the environment, toxic, & bad to breathe. Switch to "green friendly" products available in many grocery stores.

Buy items in bulk with reduced packaging.

Replace your shower head a low-flow model. The average family of four can save up to 14,000 gallons of water each year.

Replace paper towels with cloth. One-use items like paper towels and paper cups are terrible for the environment.

If you have to use paper, use recycled.

Your freezer will operate more efficiently if it's at least two-thirds full. If you don't have enough groceries, fill a plastic milk jug about three-quarters full of water and use as many as you need to temporarily fill the space.

Switch to showers, which use about 10 gallons of water compared to 20-30 gallons for the average bath.

Change your bulbs to compact fluorescents and consider using motion sensors in the room to turn the lights off and on.

Use appliances with the “Energy Star” symbol.

Recycle! If everyone recycled their Sunday paper, we would save 500,000 trees each week.

Turning your thermostat down 1 degree in the winter and up 1 degree in the summer can save as much as 10% on your utility bills.
